Over the years we tried many different infrared heat lamp bulbs and found the Philips infra red bulbs offer the best value. There are many other infra red bulbs that are cheaper but their life is never quite as long as expected and there are other more expensive heat lamp bulbs but with no substantial benefit for the extra cost. We sure you'll be happy using Philips infra red heat lamp bulbs.
An infrared heat lamp is an incandescent light bulb that is used for the principal purpose of creating heat. These are also called infrared bulbs, heat lamps, halogen lamps and infrared heaters. Many heat lamps include a red filter to minimize the amount of visible light emitted while still emitting a decent level of infrared heat.
Commonly used for to keep animals warm, these lights are used for poultry and are often called brooding lamps. Aside from young birds, other types of animals which can benefit from heat lamps include reptiles, amphibians, insects, arachnids, and the young of some mammals.
Infrared heat lamps use low energy heaters to quickly create heat without using much energy. Ceramic sockets are preferred over plastic ones as plastic can easily melt or burn when exposed to the large amount of waste heat produced by the lamps.
